Complementary remedies

  • Steam inhalation: Place a large, deep-sided bowl on a table. Fill it to one-third with boiling water. Lean over the bowl, cover your head and the sides of the bowl with a towel and breathe in the steam. Keep children and pets safely away to avoid the danger of scalding.
  • Eucalyptus oil: this essential oil has a decongestant effect. Add a couple of drops to your bath water, relax and breathe deeply.
  • Ayurveda medicine, the traditional medicine of India, also recognised the mucus-loosening effectiveness of the Asian plant Adhatoda vasica which contains vasicine, a forerunner of bromhexine, the active ingredient in Bisolvon®.

Caring for kids

  • Bisolvon® Chesty is the solution for chesty cough for kids too. Ask your chemist for the right Bisolvon® Chesty for your child.
  • Ensure kids have plenty of rest.
  • Keep the air in your child’s room moist: use a humidifier if necessary.
  • Make sure your child drinks enough to prevent dehydration; avoid acidic or bubbly drinks.

Relieve irritating dry coughs by reducing the tickling urge to cough. Bisolvon® Dry relieves dry cough day & night time, so your body gets the rest it needs to recover. Bisolvon® Dry comes in a pleasant apricot and vanilla flavoured liquid for soothing relief.

Complementary remedies

  • Thyme tea: put two tablespoons of fresh thyme leaves steeped in a pot of hot water for three minutes. Stir in a large spoon of honey to make a tea, or allow to cool and use the tea as a gargle.
  • Air humidifier: dry air can further irritate the sensitive membranes in the arways. Ensure air in your bedroom or office is moist enough by using an air humidifier.
  • Salt water inhalation: mix 150 g of table salt with 1 litre of boiling water; pour into a large, deep bowl on a stable surface. Cover your head and the sides of the bowl with a towel and inhale the steam.

Caring for kids

  • Bisolvon® Dry is suitable for children 2 years and above. Ask your pharmacist or read instructions on pack for the right product and dosage for your child.
  • Ensure kids have plenty of rest.
  • Keep the air in your child’s room moist: use a humidifier if necessary.

There’s no medical cure for cold or flu, but you can fight the symptoms so that you feel better while you recover. See your pharmacist for advice on useful treatments and refer to the Bisolvon product range for cough symptoms.

Complementary remedies

  • You can speed your recovery from a cold or the flu by ensuring you have plenty of rest and drink enough fluids.
  • Ginger tea: a hot tea made of five or six slices of ginger may boost your immune system. Let it draw for about five minutes. Sweeten with honey if desired.
  • Vitamins and minerals: ensure you have an adequate supply of all essential vitamins and minerals in your diet. Take supplements if you think some may be lacking. Ask a dietician for a professional assessment or see your pharmacist.
  •  Keep warm: don’t tax your immune system – ensure that your feet, hands and head are comfortably warm, without being too hot. If necessary, wear warm socks or take a relaxing foot bath.
